American Cancer Society Announces Crypto Fund. Will Be Named After Cryptocurrency Donor.

The future of money meets the future of cancer research.

The American Cancer Society (ACS), in a bold move, has officially become the first prominent cancer research organization to create a fund that will be solely supported via cryptocurrency donations. Why does this matter? Well, because, as crypto donors quickly become the most sought after donor demographic in modern history, ACS has made it clear that they don’t just want to be an option for crypto donors – they want to be the option for crypto donors.

About the Cancer Crypto Fund

The “Cancer Crypto Fund” aims to raise $1,000,000 in Q1 of 2021 to fund cancer research initiatives that will save lives. The first HODLer or crypto company to donate $250,000 or more will have the fund named after them or in honor of a loved one, and every crypto donor who gives $10,000 or more will be featured on the Cancer Crypto Fund Wall of Honor. They will be accepting donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum and a number of other cryptocurrencies. But more on that later. First and foremost, let’s dive into why this is such a big deal.

Why this Fund is Transformative

Cryptocurrency donors have rapidly become one of the most desirable donor demographics in the philanthropic sector worldwide. Imagine there was a type of donor out there that was young, impact-foc

used, with higher than average net worth, who had their own special tax incentive to donate their own special money to charities. Now imagine that not only do most charities not target these donors, but they aren’t even equipped to accept their gifts.

For years, if you showed up to most nonprofits looking to donate cryptocurrency, you were told “Sorry. Your money is no good here”. After that came a few options, as trailblazers like Save the Children and The Water Project became some of the first charities to actively fundraise crypto as a pillar of their fundraising programs. In the last year, we’ve seen The Giving Block’s charity list grow 600%, with charities around the world finally embracing the crypto community as a donor demographic worth pursuing.

The Cancer Crypto Fund is the next step in this saga, as it becomes the first medical research fund to not only accept crypto donations, but ONLY accept crypto donations. This is one of the loudest and clearest messages to date that we’ve seen issued from a charitable organization to the cryptocurrency community that their donations are not only welcome, but prioritized. As a company that believes strongly in the transformative power of cryptocurrency as a force for good in the world, we are unbelievably proud to be part of such a powerful statement.

What’s Next for the Cancer Crypto Fund?

We know that this announcement is just a first step. Now, so begins the work of actually fundraising for it. As a company that serves over 130 charities, we will not be able to unilaterally usher crypto donors to support this fund. Our platform supports a ton of amazing charities, and we will have to return to the work of driving crypto donors to support each and every one of them and their incredible missions. However, we do want to take this one opportunity, around this groundbreaking announcement, to urge the crypto community to support this amazing cause, as well as the other causes on our platform.

“If the cryptocurrency community rises up, donating $1,000,000 and fully funding the Cancer Crypto Fund, we’ll see a chain reaction of similar funds in the charitable sector. This could mean hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto toward medical research over the next decade. Creating crypto adoption. Creating cures.” – The Giving Block
